Ronald Richard Asmussen

May 10, 1939 — November 29, 2018

Ronald Richard Asmussen was born on May 10, 1939 in rural Antelope County, Nebraska. He was the last of six children born to Emil and Chlovena Asmussen. The family moved from one farm to another until Ron was 8 years old, when the move was made into Neligh.

Upon graduation from high school in 1957, Ron moved to the Los Angeles, California area and went to work at Pacific Bell Telephone Company, in downtown Los Angeles.

While living there, he met and married Beatrice Ferguson. Two boys; Tim and Tom, were born to this union. In 1963, the family moved back to Nebraska, settling in Norfolk, where Ron went to work at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company.

Several years after Ron and Bea were divorced, he met Carol Wingett, whom he married May 12, 1972. Her three boys, Wesley, Brian and Marty joined the family unit making a family of 5 young boys, all born in less than a 4-year span, in the household.

Ron retired in 1994, and in 1999 Ron and Carol moved to a new home in Westminster, Colorado. Ron enjoyed playing Snooker on his computer, and taking care of household finances, until Alzheimer’s Disease made those things impossible for him to do.

He passed from this life on Thursday, November 29th, 2018. Memorial service will be held at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church on Friday, December 7th, at 10:30 a.m. Those preceding. him on his present journey include his father, mother, brothers DeLayne Asmussen and Hilary Asmussen, sister JaVon Burrows, and nephew David Pfeifer.
