May 13, 1937 — January 23, 2023

Denver

Ronald C. “Ron” Hill  was born on May 13, 1937 in Fox Lake Illinois to Clyde Hill and Fern Hill.  He moved with his parents to Denver Colorado in 1947, when his father took a job as a professor at Denver University.  After graduating from Denver University in 1959, Ron attended the DU School of Law where he graduated in 1962.  The thereafter served in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1964, rising to the rank of Captain.  He later became National Commander of Scabbard and Blade, a military honor society.  After his military service, Ron became a distinguished attorney in the private practice of insurance defense law until his retirement in 2012.

In addition to his law practice, Ron was an accomplished railroad photographer and published author. He served the Colorado Railroad Museum for many years as President and Board Member.  When he wasn’t out chasing trains or writing books about them, Ron collected limited edition fountain pens and traveled the world.  He was also an accomplished cyclist, logging many thousands of miles in Washington Park and many round trips from his home in Denver to Evergreen.  A confirmed bachelor, Ron passed away suddenly in his home on January 23, 2023, leaving behind many close friends and warm memories.
