Ron Jones passed away peacefully on April 7, 2013 at his home in Centennial, Colorado. He was 71 years old. His wife Sandy was by his side. His family and friends had the privilege of spending quality time with him prior to his passing, which was a great comfort to him. Ron was born on October 18, 1941 in Fall City, Nebraska to Ivadale and Marvin Jones. He graduated from North High School in Denver, Colorado in 1960. He attended Western State University in Gunnison, Colorado from 1961-1962 and Colorado State University from 1962-1967 studying Liberal Arts for Commercial Art. He served in the Navy in Southeast Asia from 1967-1969 with an outstanding military record and honorable separation as Illustrator Draftsman. He was honorably discharged in 1972 with the following medals: National Defense, Vietnam Service, and Vietnam Campaign. Ron began his long career with Jeppesen in 1969. He was originally responsible for the aesthetic and creative qualities of the education and training products produced by the firm. Throughout the years, he worked for several departments including Product Development, Art Development, Training Development Services, Marketing Services, Flight Information Administration Marketing, Training Systems, and Corporate Communications. He loved his job and the people he worked with. He felt inspired every day he went to work. He retired in 2005 after 36 years of service. Ron is survived by his wife Sandy Jones, his son Jason Jones, stepson Jason DeWaard, daughter-in-law Laura King and grandchildren, Miles, Maddy and Lila, as well as his sister Marilyn Velasquez, brother-in-law Dennis Velasquez and their children and grandchildren. He is also survived by his former wife, Jean Jones. His parents, Ivadale and Marvin Jones, his sister Carolyn Mendez and brother Jeffrey Jones precede him in death. Ron was artistic and approached life with an open mind. He was a kind, thoughtful and generous person. He was compassionate and loved helping people. He will be remembered for his love of family and friends as well as for his passions. Retirement allowed him time to fulfill his dream of designing and building a home in Westcliffe, Colorado. He filled his days there with hiking, fly fishing, photography, woodworking, and socializing with neighbors and friends. He loved to learn new things, taking courses in computer, electronics, and investments. He was ingenious and last summer designed a solar panel for the Westcliffe home. He also enjoyed volunteering his time to his community HOA. Memorial services will be held on Friday, June 7, 2012 at 2pm at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, located at 5303 E. County Line Rd.
