Ronald B. “Ron” Eyre of Littleton, CO passed away on December 26, 2023 at the age of 83.
Ronald Blaine Eyre was born on July 4, 1940 in Battle Creek, Michigan to Blaine M. and Gladys L. (Wank) Eyre. He was raised in East Leroy and graduated from Athens High School in 1958. He married the former Judith (Judy) Ann Hueckel on June 16, 1960. The couple made their home in Battle Creek for 57 years.
Ron worked for Ralston Purina Corp for over 35 years. He enjoyed his work and co-workers and oftentimes shares stories of their comradery. Ron dabbled in gardening during his working years but really immersed himself after his retirement. Ron thoroughly enjoyed being outdoors and even though he didn’t have a farm of his own, loved discussing anything farming related. Ron was also passionate about military history and his adored pets. Ron was described by so many as “a sweet and gentle man.” He would lend a hand whenever asked and often times went out of his way to help others.
Ron and his wife, Judy, raised three children in the Battle Creek area. Judy took ill with Alzheimer’s in 2008 and Ron was her caregiver until 2014, when he could no longer meet her medical needs. He adored Judy and stated even up to his own last few earthly days “she was the love of my life!” Judy passed in November of 2017 and left an eternal void in Ron.
Ron moved to live near his daughter Cathy and son in law, Steve and their two daughters, Addison and Avery. Ron cherished his granddaughters and couldn’t stop smiling from ear to ear every time he saw them.
Mr. Eyre is survived by his sons David Eyre of Madison Heights, Roger Eyre of Battle Creek and daughter Cathy (Steve) Connolly of Littleton, Colorado; his sister, Patricia Harvath of East Leroy, and his granddaughters, Addison and Avery. He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy, parents, Blaine Eyre and Gladys Mahnke, step-father, Alvin Mahnke and his brothers, Kenneth Eyre and Norman Eyre.
Services for Ron will be held in the Battle Creek area in the summer.
