Ronald Eugene Sherwood, age 72, passed forward to his eternal home on January 14, 2020, in Aurora, Colorado.
Ronald was born on February 1, 1947, in Wichita, Kansas to parents Ella Lena (nee Beinhorn) and Robert Thomas Sherwood. After graduating from Wichita East High School in 1965, he studied electrical engineering at Kansas State College of Pittsburg for a year and joined the United States Navy in 1966. Ronald served his Naval career aboard the USS Rowan (DD-782) until his honorable discharge in 1970. During his 4 years of service, Ronald received the following medals: The Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea), The Vietnam Service Medal with Two Bronze Stars, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device and The National Defense Service Medal.
After his service in the Navy, Ronald moved to Denver, Colorado to pursue a career as an electrician and eventually settled in Aurora, Colorado to raise his family. He continued his career as a union electrician until his retirement from Rocky Flats as an alarm technician. Ronald was a dedicated ember f the IBEW Local Union 68 and The United Steel Workers Local Union 8031.
Ronald is survived by his only daughter, Lori Sherwood; brother and sisters John (Lynn) Sherwood, Ginger (Mark) Archibald and Janet (Cliff) Ferguson; half-brother Raymond Sherwood and many nieces and nephews, whom he adored.
Ronald is preceded in death by his parents; brother Chuck Sherwood; half-brother Robert Sherwood and half-sister Dora Lou Johnson (Sherwood).
A public burial ceremony will be held on Tuesday January 21, 2020 at 11:15 at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 S. Sheridan Blvd. Denver, Colorado 80235.
