Ronnie Lee Ersery 68, of Castle Pines, Colorado. Ronnie moved to Girard, IL in 1962 as a rising 11th grader, residing with his grandparents. He attended Girard High School and played football for the Girard Big Red, earning varsity letters as a junior and senior at the position of fullback. Ronnie was awarded co-MVP honors his senior year with a team that finished 6-3 overall. Ronnie also played semi-professional baseball between his junior and senior years. After graduating from Girard High School in 1964 he joined the US Navy, serving on the USS Rupertus DD851 in Vietnam, and they were being sprayed on tactical herbicides on River Patrols. After the Navy, he attended Pima Community College near Tucson, then the University of Arizona. He graduated in 1973 with a degree in electrical engineering. Ronnie then went to work for Goodyear Aerospace as the Director over Engineering before becoming the outside plant manager for a telecommunications company for 14 years. At the time of his death he had been married to his high school sweetheart, Judy Garbin, for 6 years, and they were deeply in love. He is survived by his wife Judy; sister Roberta Landers and her family, of Phoenix, AZ; and brother Danny Ersery and his family of Buckeye, AZ.
