This is a tribute to a remarkable woman, Rose Kast. Rose Bosovich was born on June 30, 1923, in West Des Moines, Iowa. She grew up in a Serbian-speaking family with three brothers and three sisters (all whom pre-deceased her), graduated from Valley High School, and married Howard Kast on March 25th 1945. She met the love of her life at the Val Air ballroom in West Des Moines. Howard was still in the service but on leave and Rose was working in a local bullet factory. (She might have been the original Rosie the Riviter!). Howard offered to escort her home on the trolley, and the rest is history. They were married for 77 years until Howard’s death in 2023. They moved to Denver in 1947, where Rose played a vital role in raising their family and an integral partner in Howard’s career. Known for her strengths, Rose was a dedicated homemaker, volunteer, prayer warrior, and a leader in Bible studies. She loved gardening, skiing, being in the mountains, golfing (she has the only hole-in-one in the family), PEO, her friendships and spending time with family, always fostering a positive outlook on life.
She was proud of her family and always ready to advise and consult with her three children, Peter (married to Penny), David (married to Dolly) and Carol (married to Stuart). Rose adored her 5 grandchildren and was especially enamored with her 10 great-grandchildren! Rose loved the Lord, was a valued friend, committed bocce ball player, cheerleader for the Colorado Rockies and the Broncos and an active member of her community, making a lasting impact on those around her. Our lives will be less full without her. She will be dearly missed.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on February 7th, 2025 in the chapel at Covenant Village of Westminster, 9153 Yarrow Street, Westminster, CO 80021.
The family thanks all the care team at Home Instead and Intermountain Hospice for providing Rose with great loving care. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Denver Salvation Army or YMCA of the Rockies.
