Rose Marie Kelly

Rose Marie Kelly, 89, passed away in Denver, Colorado Sunday, July 9th after a brief illness.  Rose was a beloved mother, Gana, Great-Gana and friend.  Her irrepressible spirit was a delight to many.   Rose was born in Goodhue, MN on September 29^th, 1933.  In 1957, Rose moved to Denver with her lifelong friend Phyllis Meyer to work as an RN at the Veterans Administration Hospital. She married Robert Kelly in 1959 and began building a home and family together. Rose lived in Village on the Lake in Greenwood Village for 32 years, including 4 years after Bobby’s passing in 1998. They made lifelong friends that Rose was still close to at the time of her passing.

In 2002 Rose moved to Heritage Eagle Bend and started a new chapter in her life. She was involved in the choir, theater group, ladies golf and numerous social activities. Ever outgoing, Rose again made lots of new friends. She also met longtime companion Thomas McCarthy and they were happily together until Tom’s passing in 2019.

She was preceded in death by her father Thomas Franklin, mother Lucille Franklin; husband Robert Kelly; companion Thomas McCarthy; son Timothy Kelly; son Thomas Kelly.  She is survived by her children Maura McLean (Dave); Michael Kelly (Rebecca); Brigit Weberg (Paal); Christopher Kelly (Ann); grandchildren Joshua, Nicholas, Sebastian, Joachim, Aiden, Landis; great grandchild Robert; brother James; a vast network of friends.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 20th at 10:00am at Church of the Risen Christ in Denver, Colorado; burial will be private.  A rosary and visitation, in honor of Rose, will be held on Wednesday, July 19th at 6:00pm at Horan & McConaty, 11150 E Dartmouth Ave, Aurora, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Catholic Charities of Denver.
