Rose Ann Morris

Rose Ann Morris, 79, of Idaho Springs, passed away on Monday, February 4, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. Born on June 4, 1939 she was the daughter of the late Joseph A. and Anne R. (Basile) Grillo. Rose married Walter L. Morris on November 23 and together they shared 41 years of marriage before his passing in February of 2018.

Rose enjoyed, sewing, gardening and spending time with her family. She had a crafting room in her home, which she called the “The Magic Room”, since you could “make anything” there. She won 1st prize at a fair for a doll she created. She loved to bake special birthday cakes and pies. She loved to gamble at the penny slots in Blackhawk called to her often where she would play and visit buffets. She hosted puzzle nights with a group who would finish a puzzle in one evening with laughter and fun. Rose loved a night out to eat a special dinner and see a play or movie. As a Christmas tradition for over 30 years she would dress up and go see the Nutcracker Ballet. Afterwards it gave her great joy to hand out nutcrackers to her guests. She loved listening to books on tape “because I can’t sit still long enough to read”.

She is survived by her 5 children, 13 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.

A Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 10, 2019 at 1 pm followed by a Funeral Mass at 2 pm at Horan & McConaty, 7577 W. 80th Ave. Arvada, CO 80003.

On January 8, 2019 Jeff Griffin, Rose’s grandson-in-law was hit by a car causing a traumatic brain injury. He was in a coma for 9 days and is now awake. Doctors hope to release him to rehab very soon.
