Rosemary Julia Dooley

June 16, 1927 — August 28, 2006

Rosemary Julia Dooley, Arvada died August 28, 2006. She was a 2nd generation Coloradan; attended St. Frances de Sales School, South High School and earned her B.S. in Chemistry from DU. She was a supervisor with Mountain Bell. Rosemary was a community activist for many years in Aravda. Her numerous accomplishments included staff writer/columnist for the Arvada Citizen, named 1976 Girl Scouts "Hidden Heroine", taught Catechism to migrant workers, and sponsered Cuban refugee families. Rosemary served 3 terms on the Arvada City Council and spearheaded the first bond issue to build 32 parks in Arvada. Rosemary was appointed by Gov. Lamm to the Denver Area Council for Community Colleges in Denver. She was a realtor for 23 years and assisted numerous first time home buyers. Rosemary was a determined Irish woman with a great sense of humor and a courageous spirit to the end. Rosemary was preceded in death by her husband John Raymond Dooley; Mother of of Mary (Jeff) Sexton, Patricia (Michael) Dooley-Strappelli, Colleen (John) Mack, Maureen (Jacques) Elmaleh and "Sean" John (Danielle) Dooley, III.; sister of Art Dollaghan; also survived by 8 grandchildren. Rosary, Thursday, 7:30 PM, Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3020 Federal Blvd. Funeral Mass, Friday 10:30 AM, St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 12375 West 58th Avenue. Interment, Mount Olivet Cemetery. Memorial contributions suggested to Samaritan House, 2301 Lawrence St., Denver 80205.
