Rosemary Jean (Robertson) Monark, a loving wife, sister, mom, grandma, great-grandma and loving friend, answered the Lord’s call early in the morning of January 27, 2023 in Lone Tree, Colorado.
Rosemary was born on October 17, 1925 in St. Louis, Missouri to Walter A. and Rose M. (Spengel) Robertson. Rosemary’s father worked as a Controller at General Motors and her mother was a homemaker.
Rosemary attended the University of Detroit where she earned her degree in Business. She worked at General Motors until she was married.
In 1949, she married John “Jack” Anthony Monark of Detroit, Michigan, who became her devoted husband of 67 years. Rosemary and Jack settled down in Grosse Pointe Woods, MI. Over the next 40 years, they raised seven wonderful children. Not only was Rosemary a devoted mother, but she also tirelessly played the roles of chauffeur, girl scout cookie mom, birthday organizer, chef, planner extraordinaire, cheerleader and the best cookie baker ever. She was compassionate, smart, faith-filled, an excellent listener, offered advice when needed and made each one of her children feel special and loved.
Rosemary and Jack retired to Colorado in 1986 where they were very active at St. Thomas More Catholic Church and parish school. Rosemary turned her abundant energy to volunteer at St. Thomas More School Library and Littleton Hospital. But first and foremost, Rosemary was always available to take care of and spoil her 15 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She lived a beautiful life of service to others.
Rosemary and Jack were avid square dancers and enjoyed hosting bridge club for their friends. They also traveled extensively around the world experiencing many different cultures and customs.
Rosemary is predeceased by her husband Jack, her sister, Phyllis Clancey, and her parents. She is survived by her seven children: Nancy Gradel (Mike), John Monark (Barb), Roseanne Chichester (Stan), Paul Monark (Eileen), Maryellen Brackett (Bill), David Monark and Mike Monark (Terri Sue). Her grandchildren are Eric Barnes, Ryan Barnes, Angela Monark Gebbie (Kevin), Chris Monark, Justin Chichester (Christine), Rachel Chichester, Grant Chichester, Katherine Monark, Jack Monark (Lau), Marie Monark, Janika Brackett (Haley), Drew Brackett, Kirsten Brackett, Emma Monark and Aidan Monark. She also is survived by her adorable great-grandchildren: Edie Chichester, Adam Chichester and Levi Gebbie.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, February 6, 2023, 11am at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 8035 S. Quebec St., Centennial, CO, 80112. A rosary will be held prior to the Funeral Mass at 10:15am.
