Rowynaine Lowell Couey

February 28, 1917 — April 5, 2006

Rowynaine Lowell Couey 89, died April 5th in Bremerton, WA. He was born in Excelsior, WI to Don Edmond and Minnie Minerva (Toney) Couey. He was a baseball pitcher for the House of David before enlisting in the Army in 1941. During World War II he was stationed in Trinidad, France and Germany as a Maintenance Officer. He was also the barber whenever needed. At the end of his 3 year tour he remained active in the Reserves and retired as Chief Warrant Officer. He was very patriotic loving his country that he so proudly served to protect. He was a lifetime member of the VFW. He was Post All State team 1972-73. Post #4171 Commander. He was District #10 Commander 1977-78. Seam Squirrel Pickle Puss Pup Tent #6. And Grand Commander of Colorado Military Order of the Cooties 1998-1999. He was American Legion Post Commander 1984. He taught vocational education at Boulder High School and later retired from teaching at the Denver Automotive Diesel College. He was preceded in death by his second wife Ima (Wilson) Hoffman, a daughter Gloria Jean Millsap, and also preceding him in death are brothers Kermit, Donald, Byron, Dickey and sisters, Alma Nix, Pauline Olson and Gyneth Henry. He is survived by a brother Walter, Janesville, WI, and sister Berniece (Daly) Reinking, Richland Center, WI. He is survived by a son Colin Keith Couey, Spokane, WA and a daughter Sheryl Lee Deskins, Bremerton, WA, Kent Hoffman, Kingsford, MI, Kip Hoffman, Aurora, CO, Jean (Hoffman) Sullivan, Arvada, CO, 16 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. He was greatly loved by all who were fortunate enough to have known him. His sharp wit and keen sense of humor sustained us all until the end. He could tell hundreds of life experiences (humorously) and never tell the same one twice. He was a simple and very humble man who will be forever loved and missed.
