Roy A. Charrette (74) passed unexpectedly in the company of his wife and sons the night of March 19th, 2021 at Lutheran Hospital. Born in Denver, 1946, a loved family man, Roy's loss is felt heavily by his wife (Pat), sons (Roy and Chris), their spouses (Bonnie and Kathy), four granddaughters (Amber, Jessica, Gina, and Patricia), three siblings (Martha, Frank, and Romey), and numerous nieces and nephews.
As a young man, Roy fell for Pat when they met in 1964, she brought such a light to his life he decided to marry her after only two short years and together they began to create a beautiful family. (He sadly passed just shy of their 55th anniversary April 2nd). He loved her irrevocably for 54 years of friendship, marriage and family, strengthened every day, no matter what trials and tribulations were thrown in their way. Even though she was young when they married, she cared for him through hell and high water all her life and never gave their young wedding a second thought.
Still surrounded in his loving embrace their love continues even in his absence.
The Colorado native leaves behind a love of music - jazz undeniably his favorite - and a workmans heart, two things he has clearly passed down onto his sons that, to quote his youngest, "Worked as hard as he could for..." The loss of their father is heavy in their minds and hearts, as they reminisce on shared memories of their father getting them out of one shenanigan to the next and continuing to protect and care for them even in old age.
He stood with them in life and surely continues to guide them in death.
His love for his own children was matched only by the way he cherished his grandchildren. From their births he cherished them as his own; watching them grow up to him was one of his greatest joys. He would often recount memories of teaching them to fish and bike as well as the "adventures" he would take them on and allowing them to give him makeovers no matter how old they got. "His girls" as he referred to them, were his world; he would do anything for them if they asked.
He watched his grandkids grow and change loving them all the same.
His familial circle was small, but he was loved by everyone within it and the friends he had brought into his orbit along the way. Through the years he was told that he had an inviting aura about him, strangers would come up to him and start talking like they were old friends, this was in the opinion of the few in his circle, his most precious quality. It was this, his ability to make tears go away with a hug, this open caring personality that we remember, the smiles he gave even on the worst days, his laugh that started a chorus of others, and sweetest eyes, that have made a forever home in our hearts.
He loved his family within his memories and he will be forever cherished in ours.
A memorial for Roy A. Charrette will be scheduled at a later date.
