Roy Lee Hubbs was born on December 12, 1924, in Brinkman, Oklahoma. Roy Lee was twelve years old when he and his family moved to Lewis, Colorado. Roy was drafted in the U.S. Army, August of 1943. After a troop train ride across the U.S., he arrived at Camp Patrick Henry, Virginia, for basic training. He was a Medic assigned to the 91st Infrantry Division at Camp Adair, Oregon. Roy then boarded a Liberty ship and 19 days later landed in Oran, Africa. From Africa, it was off to Naples, Italy. His division boarded LST's went up the coast of Italy, and landed at Anzio. Roy served twenty-four years in the U.S. Army, achieving the rank of Sargent First Class. Roy was awarded 2 Bronze Stars, for "heroic achevement in action," October 12, 1944 near Livernano, Italy. He also received the following awards: (2) Good Conduct Medals, National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal with 5 Bronze Service Stars, President Unit Citation ROK, Medical Badge, WWII Victory Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, and numerous other service awards. After WWII, and during the Korean War, Roy was stationed in Japan. He would stay in Japan for eleven years. During the Vietnam War, Roy was called back into service and was the NCOIC of the x-ray department, 2nd General Hospital, Laundstuhl, Germany. Once retired from the Army, he worked for Civil Service, and retired after thrity years. Roy and his wife Kay celebrated their forty-ninth wedding anniversary this year. Roy Lee loved country western music, and was good for a bad joke or two. He kept busy with a part-time job at Peoples Choice casino bus line. Roy is survived by his wife Kay, son Michael, granddaughter Amber, grandson Brandon, sister Rosetta, many nieces and nephews, good friends Joe and Dana. Roy Lee departed this world to be with his son David, family and friends in Heaven on December 31, 2004. Pops touched the lives of so many people, brought much happiness to all he met.
