Royce James Saindon Written by Nikki Pratt (granddaughter) Royce Saindon passed away Jan. 23, 2011. Although he lived most of his life in Colo., Royce was originally born in Zurich, Kansas, of Frederick and Leona Saindon, in 1936. His parents moved to Colorado when he was only six. He attended grade school in Phippsburg, and the high school in Yampa. After graduating, he went to work in the railroad in 1952. Six years later, 1958, he was drafted into the army where he served for two years. In 1960, Royce was able to return to the railroad, where he worked for forty years. It was during his time there that he met and married his wife, Alma Smith, in 1964. He retired from the railroad in 1996. For the remainder of his years, he enjoyed fishing, bowling, and gardening. He was a member of St. Joan of Arc Church in Arvada, a good husband, grandfather, and friend to all. Royce was the last survivor of his siblings. Preceding him were Freddy, Leo, Marcel, Bernard 'Bernie', Richard, Mary 'Mag', Edna, and Barbara. He is survived by his wife, Alma, and they would have celebrated 47 years of marriage in April. They have two children, Randy and Diana. Randy and his wife Lora have four children and five grandchildren. Diana and her husband Jim have five children. A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 from 5-7pm with a Rosary to follow at 7pm at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel located at 7577 W. 80th Ave. in Arvada. Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at 10am at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 12735 W. 58th Ave. Burial to take place at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
