Royce Don Tyson

June 28, 1941 — January 21, 2012

Royce D. Tyson, 70, of Golden, died Jan. 21, 2012 of pancreatic cancer. He was born on June, 28 1941 to Mark and Lohraine (Ramey) Tyson of Franktown, Colorado, both deceased. Upon graduating Douglas County HS, he received his undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado in Foreign Language and his graduate degree from University of California, Berkeley. He loved teaching, mentoring, traveling, running, and reading. Royce taught Russian and English in several Jefferson County Schools for 32 years followed by another 15 years at the University of Denver. The most important things to Royce were his faith, family and many friends. He is survived by Coralie, his wife of 47 years, and two sons: Troy (Trestina) of Highlands Ranch and Todd (Sarah) of Lone Tree and 5 grandchildren, Hunter, Dane, Tyler, Haley, and Paige. He is also survived by his brother, Rowan (Marilyn) of Elbert and sister in-law Sandra Dungan of Lakewood. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, Jan. 30th at 1:30pm at Horan & McConaty, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Lustgarten Pancreatic Foundation or the Collier Hospice Center.
