RUBEN ANTHONY VEGA, 76
of Thornton, Colorado was born on February 21, 1947, in Pueblo, Colorado to Josie Delgado (dec) and Manuel Vega (dec). He is survived by his wife Diane Rodriguez who he met in 1999.
He graduated from Pueblo Central High School, class of 1965. He was a man of many talents. His jobs were many including working in the fields picking vegetables as a young man, working at the Safeway Bakery and Denver Wood. In 2018, he retired from Denver Water with 35 years. Ruben always liked to dress up, he was known as the best dressed guy in every room.
During his struggle with Alzheimer’s, he died on July 10, 2023, with his wife Diane at his side. Diane was able to keep him at home with hospice care. Special love and thanks to her children and the special nurses and CNA’s who gently cared for him with deep respect. Just a few of these angels names are Brenda, Maria S., Shawn, and Maria B. He will be greatly missed and forever loved.
Preceded in death by his sisters Angie, Barbara, Celia, and brothers Nick, Johnny, Joe, and Manuel.
He is also survived by sister Josie (Ron) and sisters-in-law, Rose (Joe), Ruby (Frank), and Father-in-law Frank Rodriguez and brothers-in-law Frank (Ana), and John (Christine).
His children, stepchildren, grandchildren, and great grandchildren will miss him. Father to Antonnette (Gary), Stephanie, Ernest, and stepfather to David (Julie) and Doreen (Nate).
Grandfather to Dominique (Jerry), Aleigha, Ernie, Anthony, Elias, Ruben, Julia (dec.), Jeremy, Sara (dec.), Jacob, Samantha. Dominic, Greg, Emilio, Alysha, Jazzie, Sarysa, and Jayla, Daniel Ray, Garrett and Jaxson.
Great grandpa to Aiyanna, Natayiah, Luciano and Jade.
He will also be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
One of Ruben’s nephews said the following after Ruben’s passing, “Ruben now has the best seat in the house to watch the Nuggets and the Broncos and all of us circus clowns.”
Flowers can be sent to Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Northglenn and donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
