Russell Shaw

Mr. Russell L. Shaw of Aurora, Colorado was called home to be with the Lord on March 9, 2022.

Russell was born and raised in Springfield, Massachusetts. He was the only child of Willie Leroy Shaw and Eva (Freeman) Shaw, who preceded him in death in 1998 and 2019, respectively. Russell and his mother shared a birthday (June 28th).

Russell previously lived in Rockland County, New York. It was there that he and his wife Veronica had two children (Lawson & Leona) and began raising them before moving to Colorado in 2011.

Russell spent most of his life prior to that, in Springfield, Massachusetts, where he developed life-long friendships with former classmates, his church family at St. John’s Congregational Church, his fraternity brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha, Inc., and numerous co-workers in and around the Springfield, MA and Hartford, Connecticut area.

Russell was an avid New England Patriots and Boston Reds Sox fan. He enjoyed watching pro-wrestling, classic westerns, and classic comedy. He also loved listening to Gospel and classic R & B. Russell was known for being a big, quiet man with an equally big, caring and kind heart. His smile and laugh were nothing less than infectious. Russell loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Russell is survived by his pride and joy, son Lawson Russell Shaw and daughter Leona McCan Shaw of Colorado Springs, Colorado; their mother and his former wife of 21 years Veronica Pinckney-Shaw (Mark) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; his girlfriend Erika Gaskin of Denver, Colorado; his former mother-in-law Mable L. Williams and family of Denver, Colorado; his Aunt Letha Mae Shaw of Queens Village, New York and her children; many cousins in and between New York, Massachusetts, and North Carolina; and a host of friends and former co-workers across the northeast United States and Colorado.

A Memorial Service to honor Russell's life will take place on Saturday, April 16th at Horan and McConaty located at 11150 East Dartmouth Avenue Aurora, Colorado 80014.
