Gregg was born in Trinidad, CO on January 12, 1922 and left us on February 1st. Ruth, his wife of 61 years, born January 4, 1924 in Rawlins, WY, died 4 days later on February 5th. Their family knew that to her home was always where Gregg was. They were devoted to their family, caring deeply that they were building a bridge from their past to the future for their children and grandchildren. Gregg was an exceptional athlete, attending the University of Denver where he was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame in 2000. He played football for the Navy All-Stars during WWII and went on to play for the NY Giants in 1947. He returned to Denver in 1948 to do what he truly loved, teaching and coaching, at Denver's East and George Washington High Schools. Gregg was preceded in death by his parents Gregg Sr. and Mayme Browning and his brother Jim. Ruth was born in Wyoming but grew up in Denver with her younger brother Bruce. She was a talented artist, cook and gardener. She graduated from the University of Colorado in 1969 and went on to teach at Goldrick Elementary in the Denver Public Schools. To her daughters she was more than a mother, she was a girlfriend. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents Elmer and Marba Young. They are survived by Ruth's brother Bruce Young; their daughters Paula (Victor) Buffetti, Claudia (Eric) Helmstaedter and Andrea Grant; and their grandchildren Amy, Lisa (John), Doug, Stephanie, Matt and Caitlyn. Memorial services will be held Friday, February 9th at 1:00 p.m. at Horan & McConaty, 1091 S. Colorado Blvd. Reception to follow.
