Ruth Hannah Gallagher Bush passed away on December 23rd in her home in Denver, Colorado. She loved Christmas and this season of love and giving. She left this life on her terms, in her own home, remaining active until it was her time to move on. Ruth grew up in Concord, Massachusetts and attended Radcliffe College, the women's college of Harvard. She also worked at Harvard Graduate School of Design for famous architect Walter Gropius. Later she got a Masters from the University of Denver. In Massachusetts she knew John F. Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, I.M. Pei, among other interesting people in our great country's history. Ruth married Arthur H. Bush, Jr., and they moved to Denver in the 1950's and then to Bow Mar in 1961, where they raised two sons, Geoffrey and Jonathan. Ruth's brother John Gallagher lives in Stratford, Connecticut. Ruth was an active volunteer in Denver and started the Denver School Volunteer Program, a tutorial program for inner-city youth. She also worked for several non-profit organizations. Ruth belonged to the Lakes of Bow Mar garden club until she was widowed, she then moved to Arizona in 1996 for health reasons. In Sun Lakes, Arizona she was very active in the Cheers group, Irish Club, Writers Club, paint shops, published many writings and held Salons for artists. She returned to Littleton and lived close to her son Jonathan's family in Bow Mar for several years, being active in the Wednesday night group and continued writing and painting. Ruth was well known and loved in the community. She cherished her friends and loved people of all ages. She was often at the beach in Bow Mar, Colo., with her family or at events sharing all her wonderful stories and adventures in her life. She was runner up for the International Poet Society contest in New York City and had her book of poetry published called Trappings. She was a writer, poet, soloist singer, pianist, painter and event organizer. She cherished and respected history and was a loving mother, grandmother and mother-in-law. She loved nature, hiking and exploring the outdoors. One of her favorite trips was to Ireland. She loved taking her two sons camping & fishing across the country where they would return to Concord, Mass., to visit her family. They spent many summers in Maine. Her laughter, stories and character are sorely missed. She is survived by Geoffrey, his wife Diane, grandchildren Darren, Lindsey and Briana who reside in San Jose, California and Jonathan, his wife Alice Jackson, and children Liam and Addie Bush, who live in Bow Mar, Colo.
