Ruth M. Gallegos

January 26, 1928 — August 23, 2016

Ruth Maria Encarnacion (Lopez) Gallegos lived most of her adult life in Westminster, Colorado for 88 years and passed away August 23, 2016 in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. Ruth was born January 26, 1928 in Walsenburg, Colorado, the daughter Cesario Lopez and Juanita Lopez. At a very young age Ruth lost both of her parents and was orphaned along with her 6 brothers and sisters; Louis, Joe, Alice, Rose Jerry and Jack Lopez. They didn't have much but they knew they had one another. Ruth was the last surviving sibling before she passed away. Her greatest life's work was being a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Ruth was a domestic engineer, who graduated at the very top of her class, as far as her family was concerned. She specialized in making others feel welcomed, accepted and loved. Ruth truly had a mother's heart, she always made sure tummies were well feed, there were plenty of hugs and kisses, back scratching was in abundant supply, the house was neat and tidy, flower gardens pruned and plucked to perfection and the list goes on. Her God given talents weren't only visible in her ability to grow beautiful flowers but also demonstrated in her gifts of sewing (clothing), cooking, crocheting and flower arranging. She was a person who cared deeply about others especially orphaned children (like herself). Ruth didn't always have an easy life but she worked very hard at making lemonade out of lemons. Her faith and relationship with God was a living testament that with God, all things are possible. Agreeably, everyone in her family would tell you she is the strongest woman they knew. Her memory will continue to live on and in the hearts of family and friends through one of her favorite songs or even through the doves ""whooing"" during a late summer afternoon. Ruth is survived by her husband, Johnny Gallegos; her five children, Randy (Bernice), Gary (Louise), Johanna (Glenn), Tim (Diana) and Rodney (Sarah); grandchildren, Peter, Marie, Matt (Renee), Gina (Dan), Lyndsay, Jacob, Lucas, Malina, Troy, Danica and Gihanna. ""And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you may also be where I am."" - John14:3 A Recitation of the Rosary and A Celebration of Ruth's life will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Lakewood, 8210 West 10th Street Lakewood, Colorado 80214.
