Ruth Owen Peterson

Ruth Owen Peterson, of Denver, CO, age 96, passed away on March 2, 2013. She was born in West Lafayette, Indiana on July 9, 1916 to George and Mary Owen. Ruth attended St. Francis Academy in Lafayette and Denver Univesity. On October 5, 1940 she married W. Arthur Peterson in West Lafayette, IN. She and Art moved to Denver, Colorado in 1946 to start a new life. She supported Art in everything they did and raised two children, Bill and Jane. Ruth loved everyone she knew and had many friends from Columbine Country Club, Bow Mar, her church (University Park Methodist Chrch), Park Lane Apartments, Van Dyke Apartments and the staff and residents at the Christian Living Center. She was a member of P.E.O., volunteered her time to the Salvation Army and her church and worked with Art at their travel agencies. Ruth loved to travel. Her favorites were Hawaii, England and Scotland. When she was not taking care of the house and kids, Ruth played golf, bowled and did her favorite thing of all, ENTERTAIN. What a hostess she was! She is survived by her son, William Robert Peterson and his wife, Luisa, of Highlands Ranch, CO, granddaughter, Kristina Hardy and great-grandson Nickolas of Highlands Ranch, CO; daughter Jane Ruth Davis of Richmond, Vermont, grandson Kyle William Davis and wife, Irina, and great-grandson Vanya, of Moscow, Russia. Preceded in death by husband, W. Arthur Peterson, grandson Joel Keith Davis, parents and siblings. THANK YOU MOM FOR EVERYTHING YOU SHARED WITH ALL OF US. Dad has been waiting patiently and will welcome you with a smile, cigar and open arms. Enjoy forever together. Memorial Service will be held Friday, March 8, 2013, 1:30 pm at Christian Living Center, 2480 S. Clermont Street, Denver 80120 in the Fellowship Hall with Pastor Mike Van Epps officiating. Inurnment will be private.
