Sadako Gunji Kohr

Sadako Gunji Kohr, 87, of Aurora, Colorado, passed away on May 20, 2019.

Private interment services will be held on June 3, 2019 at Fort Logan National Cemetery, where she will join her beloved husband, Ira Kohr.

Sadako was born in Tokyo, Japan to Kenkichi and Some Gunji on August 1, 1931. After completing high school, she met an American Army servicemen and fell in love. She married Ira in Himeji, Japan on February 17, 1951. Shortly after marrying, they moved back to the United States and began the vagabond life of a military family, being stationed in Germany, twice, Texas, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Missouri and Japan again. Her only child, Steve was born in Nuremburg, Germany in 1953.

Sadako will always be remembered as the consummate homemaker, a loving nuturing mother and doting grandmother. Family meant everything to her and she lived her life with grace and class.

Sadako is preceded in death by her husband, Ira Kohr, her parents, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.

Sadako is survived by her son, Steve and his wife Cathy, her two grandsons, Brandon and his fiance Jessica and Evan Kohr, her extended family in Japan and Pennsylvania and her darling Yorkie.
