Born Sally Ann McIntosh, she came from a family of 5. Born in Sayer, Pennsylvania, and then the family relocated to 30 miles south of Syracuse, New York.
Later, the family moved to Orlando, Florida, during Sally’s senior year of high school. After graduation she went on to receive her RN degree from Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida. Another move brought Sally to Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas where she taught nursing.
Sally met and married Mike Marfia in 1970. They went on to have three boys, Tommy, Roberto, and Anthony. During Sally’s 52 years on the job she exemplified the 6 C’s of Nursing: Caring, Compassionate, Courageous, Communicative, Committed, and Competent. Specializing in Hospice Nursing, Sally was able to tend to those in their final moments and help grieving families in their time of need.
She is survived by her husband, 3 sons, granddaughter, 1 sister, and 3 nieces.
