Salvatore J. ""Tedo"" Spano was born in Denver, Colorado on August 10, 1925 to John Spano and Josephine (Pachello) Spano, and passed away at Collier Lutheran Hospice in Wheat Ridge, Colorado on October 28, 2016 at age 91. Tedo spent his life growing plants. He first worked for his father growing field crops and later took over Marshall St. Greenhouses in 1973 after his father passed away. He grew carnations and bedding plants. Tedo raced stock cars for a number of years with the Colorado Auto Racing Club (CARC) and also served as President and on the Board. Tedo was an active supporter of the Colorado Flower Growers Association, where he served on the Board and also as Vice President. He always gave assistance and guidance to anyone wanting help. Tedo was elected to the Board of Denver Wholesale Florists in 1974 and served continuously since then. Tedo also served as President and was on the Board of Clear Creek Valley Water and Sanitation District. Tedo was a friend to everyone and will be greatly missed. Tedo is survived by his wife Patricia Nelson, daughter Cheri Gavito; Sister Betty Leonard and his brother Jack (Alice) Spano . He is also survived by his grandchildren, Regina Gavito, Richard Gavito, Bill (Suzette) Spano, Tina Spano and Sam (Laura) Gavito, great grandchildren, Sara Jones, Cayson Gavito, Damion Gavito, Mariah Gavito, Grace Gavito, Amarie Gavito, Mariah Spano, Nicholas Spano, Samantha Gavito, Dante Gavito, Tarra Gavito, and Ashley Gavito, and great great gradchildren, Chris Jones, Aubrey Jones, Eleanor Sutton, and Kaliann Gavito, and numerous nieces and nephews. Honorary father to Geri, Carla, Steve, Mike and Jeff. Tedo was preceded in death by his first wife Fern (Osborn) Spano, sons William Spano and Jim Spano, brother Mike (Reba) Spano, sister Nena (Llew) Graham and his brother-in-law, Paul Leonard. The family will receive friends Sunday, 2PM â 5PM, at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3020 Federal Boulevard. The Funeral Mass will be held Monday, 10AM at Shrine of St. Anne Catholic Church, 7555 Grant Place in Arvada. Private Entombment will be at Crown Hill Cemetery.
