Samuel Edgar Ainsworth, Jr.

Samuel Edgar Ainsworth, Jr., age 72, of Greeley and Lakewood, CO passed away Monday, December 12, 2011. Sam was born May 29, 1939 in Lubbock, Texas to Samuel Edgar and Virginia Grace Ainsworth. He graduated from Lubbock High School in 1957 and received a degree from Texas Tech in Business Management in 1969 . Sam worked for many years in the Agricultural business and for the last 30 years owned his own heating and air conditioning business. He was active in his church, enjoyed traveling, and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was a Sergeant First Class from 1957-1966 in the Texas Army National Guard and was stationed at Fort Hood, TX and Lubbock, TX. He was assigned to Headquarters Battery of the 132nd field artillery battalion and began as a radio operator/driver. He advanced to radio section chief and the rank of staff sergeant and served five years. He was promoted to sergeant first class and communications chief, over all radio and land line personnel. He served four years in that job before discharge. Sam was preceded in death by his parents and one son Ken Ainsworth. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ann, his children Ed and his wife Connie Ainsworth, Kevin and his wife Aimee Ainsworth, Kathy and her husband Brian Mohrlang, and his sister Julie and her husband Larry Cunningham. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Jeff Ainsworth and his wife Lacey, Denae Hutson and her husband Chris, Lance Ainsworth and his wife Olivia, Jackie Ainsworth and Kalib Ainsworth, Elizabeth, Laurel and Alex Ainsworth, and Jessica, Amanda and Micaela Mohrlang, 5 great grandchildren, Will and Reed Hutson, Allie Ainsworth, and Devin and Levi Riches, and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Sam's services will be Thursday, December 15 at 2:30 p.m. at Bear Valley Church, Lakewood, CO. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 17 in the City of Lubbock Cemetery, Lubbock, Texas. Memorials may be made to Bear Valley Church/For The Kingdom, 10001 W Jewell Ave., Lakewood, CO 80232.
