Sam Jones passed away at home from pulmonary fibrosis and complications of a lung transplant. He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Linda Carole (Stevens) Jones; his two children, Samuel Mark Jones of Milwaukee, OR and Mynde (Jones) Sousa of Napa, California; 3 grandchildren and 2 step-grandchildren; 3 (soon to be 4) great-grandchildren; and half-brother Richard Jones. Born in Pueblo, CO, he is preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Florence Jones, and two half-brothers Quinn and Jake Jones, also of Pueblo. Sam's family wishes to acknowledge the lung donor and his family who graced Sam with an additional two and a half years of life. Sam graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder, with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He spent much of his career at the University's Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP,) both as an engineer, and then as Director of Engineering. In his retirement he pursued his passion for wildlife and nature photography. A service was held for Sam on July 26, 2015 at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel in Arvada, Colorado.
