“And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.” 1 Peter 5:10
Samuel David Schwindt, 54, was called to his eternal rest by our Lord on December 6, 2023.
Sam was preceded in death by his beloved parents Martin and Rose Marie Schwindt (Durando), his Auntie Rosalie Ann Durante (Durando), his grandparents Joe and Maria Durando and Samuel and Katherine Schwindt.
Sam was a loving and dedicated father to Samantha Rose Schwindt.
A cherished brother to Katherine Shade (Allen), Marty (Bud) Schwindt, and Dianna Rose Schwindt.
A proud Uncle to Amber Grigsby and Sarah Shade who he faithfully watched over.
A protective cousin to Angela Marie Durante who lovingly called him Samo, and always looked up to him.
Sam was a loyal and lifelong friend to Damon Miles (Kim), and Patty Morgan who loved him like a son, to Johnny Walker, Kurt Williams, Bobby Calvert, Shelly Sansburn and Kim Sexton who he grew up with, and had many memorable adventures with throughout the years. Sam is survived by numerous beloved family and friends.
From early on Sam was a born leader, he had a magnetic personality and a fantastic sense of humor. He could turn on the charm with that sparkle in his eye, beautiful smile, and mischievous little laugh, which could charm the birds out of the trees, not to mention all the pretty girls.
Sam was a force of nature, full of energy and life. He valued time with his family and friends entertaining us with his funny stories, practical jokes, and daredevil stunts. He enjoyed the Colorado mountains, hunting, fishing, and going to the shooting range.
He loved good food, and cooking with his daughter, patiently coming up with creative new recipes to support her interest in being Vegan. This may have been a bit challenging for him with a freezer full of his latest kill; elk, deer, venison, and pheasant, but being the dedicated father, Sam would do anything to make sure his daughter felt loved, accepted, and supported in all her interests.
Sam’s most treasured job in life was being a father to Samantha Rose, he cherished every moment with her and loved her with all his heart and soul.
Beneath the energetic and fun-loving exterior, Sam had a very soft and compassionate heart. Easily touched by the struggles of others. Sam was quick to leave an unexpected large tip to a struggling waitress. If he saw someone in need on the street, he was always willing to offer them food, warm clothes, or a helping hand. He watched over his family and friends, worrying about their wellbeing always asking, “Are you ok, do you need anything?” Your kindness, compassion, and care, was not overlooked for as Jesus said, “Truly I tell you whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
We can only imagine when you opened your eyes and saw the face of Jesus, that you now know without a doubt his all-encompassing love, forgiveness, peace, joy, and the knowledge that your life was one of a kind, never to be replicated, unique and valued. You understand the meaning of life and suffering knowing it was not in vain, but to fulfill the promise Jesus made “Let your heart not be troubled, ye believe in God, believe also in me. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
Until we are all reunited in eternal paradise, we will remember the love and laughter that we shared and it will fill the air and linger like a prayer.
