Long time Moffat resident, Sandra Lee Weiss, age 75, passed away on February 19, 2022. Sandra was born in 1946 in Denver, Colorado and married Alfred Weiss in 1968, recently celebrating 53 years of marriage. Sandra earned her Bachelors of Science degree in Nursing in 1968 and served in the Army Nursing Corps (ANC) as a 2nd Lt. Afterwards, she pursued her passion of Nursing by serving the community as a Public Health Nurse, Hospice Nurse and school nurse in the San Luis Valley, also known as the “San Luis Valley Caregiver” to many community members. When she wasn’t serving her community, she was helping and supporting Alfred on their family ranch. Sandra enjoyed sewing, cooking, reading, socializing with the neighbors and caring for the many animals that found their way to her door.
Sandra was preceded in death by her Father Sandy Comito, Mother Valerie Comito and Sister Shirley Fearns. She is survived by her two brothers, Stephen (Jackie) Comito, Joseph (Robbie) Comito and sister, Maria (Jamie) Flansburg, sons, Michael (Yvette) Weiss, Matthew Weiss, daughter Michelle (Alan) Wilson, grandsons, Eli, Christopher, Nathan, granddaughters, Natalie, Emily and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the following organizations: Alzheimer’s Association of Colorado, American Legion in Saguache, VFW Post 899 in Alamosa and the American Cancer Society of Colorado and may be made in care of the funeral home office. Sandy's family will greet friends and family at a Visitation on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 beginning at 4:00PM until 7:00pm at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 South Wadsworth Boulevard, Lakewood.
A Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at 10:30AM with the Funeral Mass to begin at 11:00am both at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, 900 West Midway Boulevard, Broomfield, Colorado. Interment will be held immediately following at Fort Logan National Cemetery with Military Honors, 3698 South Sheridan Boulevard, Denver, Colorado.
