Sandy T. Shellhamer
August 25, 1954 - February 26, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, and friend, Sandy T. Shellhamer. She left this world unexpectedly on February 26, 2025, during heart surgery in Lakewood, Colorado.
Sandy was born on August 25, 1954, in Rách GiÃ, Vietnam. Amidst the hardships of a war-torn country, she met the love of her life, Jeff Shellhamer, during his tour in the Vietnam War. Their love story brought her to America, where she built a life full of resilience and devotion. Though Sandy and Jeff divorced years ago, he remained a steadfast presence in her life. We have no doubt that he was waiting for her in heaven, ready to welcome her with open arms.
A woman of incredible strength, independence, and unwavering faith, Sandy was a devoted member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Northglenn, CO. She dedicated countless hours to her church community, embodying the values of kindness, generosity, and service to others.
Sandy’s love language was food. She never let anyone leave her home empty-handed, always ensuring her loved ones were well-fed and cared for. Whether it was sharing a homemade meal or dropping off groceries unexpectedly, she showed her love in the most thoughtful ways.
Her work ethic was unparalleled. She spent 35 years at Medtronic, where she was known for her dedication, often working long hours and sacrificing so much to provide for her family. She loved her job, her coworkers, and the sense of purpose it gave her. Even after decades of hard work, she never slowed down, always striving to give her best.
Sandy was preceded in death by her granddaughter, April Shellhamer. She is survived by her children, Lisa Straight Massey (husband Todd Massey) and Michael J. Shellhamer (wife Christy Shellhamer), as well as her cherished grandchildren: Ty Straight, Isabelle Shellhamer, Anna Shellhamer, and Emily Shellhamer. She also leaves behind her dearest and best friend, Paul Herberger, who was a constant source of love and support in her life.
Though her passing leaves an immeasurable void, we take comfort in knowing she has been reunited with those who went before her. Her legacy of love, faith, and perseverance will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
