Sarah Margaret Sawyer

March 20, 1933 — September 26, 2006

Peacefully on September 26, 2006. Beloved wife of Kenneth C. Sawyer, Jr., and devoted sister of Jack Price of Washington D.C. Loving step-mother of Chuck Sawyer and Julia Sawyer, their spouses, Mary Presely Sawyer and Kenneth Doyno. Grandmother to Nathaniel Doyno, Emily Sawyer, Ken Sawyer, Elena Doyno, and Sophia Doyno. Sarah was preceded in her death by her parents, Clun and Ruth Jean Price, and her sister, Pat Price of Maryville, Missouri. Sarah graduated from Maryville High School and the University of Missouri. She moved to Denver in 1955 to begin what became a 20 year teaching career in the Denver Public School system. An avid athlete, she most enjoyed sharing her enthusiasm for athletics by coaching swimming, synchronized swimming, gymnastics, and tennis. A former member of PEO, she continued to be active in many local organizations including Tuesday Morning Class, Senior Women's Golf Association, Welcome to Colorado, and the Medical Society Auxiliary, serving in leadership roles in many of these groups. She was a serious student of mystery writing, a supportive member of the literary group Sister's in Crime, and a loyal patron of Murder By The Book. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, October 2, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. at St. John's Cathedral, 1350 Washington Street, in Denver. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested in Sarah's name to Hospice of Metro Denver, 501 South Cherry Street, Suite 700, Denver, Colorado 80246.
