Scott Andrew Boylan

June 10, 1968 — November 25, 2017

Scott Andrew Boylan June 10, 1968-November 25, 2017 Scott Andrew Boylan, 49, of Centennial, CO passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 25, 2017, at Sky Ridge Medical Center after a 3-week battle with pancreatic cancer. Scott was born June 10,1968 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Richard and Lila (Smith) Boylan. He graduated from Putnam City North High School in 1986, and was a proud graduate of the University of Oklahoma, graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism in 1991. He began his long radio broadcasting career at KOMA-AM and KRXO-FM in Oklahoma City, moving to Grand Forks, ND; Minot, ND; Deadwood, SD; and Spearfish, SD before moving to Denver in 1997. Scott absolutely loved meeting and interviewing many rock legends, including Brian May of Queen (who gave him the flu!) Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones, Soundgarden, Lindsey Buckingham and many, many more. Scott began reporting on Denver's traffic in 1998, eventually becoming one of 6 airborne traffic reporters in Denver, the job he loved most. He reported for KYGO-FM as ""Detour Dave"", KOA-AM, and several other radio stations. While flying twice a day, he realized his unique perspective of the city and Front Range, which ignited his love for aerial photography. His work was twice featured on the cover of On Site, a trade magazine for building architecture and construction. While working in Deadwood, SD in 1994, he met his future wife, Kim Hubbard, who promptly quit the radio station to work at a competing station. Ultimately, Scott joined Kim at the competing radio station and became fast friends. When Kim moved to Denver, Scott ""crashed on the couch"" and their friendship grew deeper over the next few years. They married on May 26, 2012. Around this time, Scott left radio broadcasting to transition to film and television production until 2015. He made a career change when he worked as the Front Desk assistant with the Exceptional Student Services Unit and Unit of Federal Programs at the Colorado Department of Education, and he began his new job at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment in the X-Ray and Mammography Unit in September, 2017. Scott is survived by his wife, Kim; sister Lisa Boylan Plunkett of Shawnee, OK; niece Tara (Billy) Yonce and great-nephew Benjamin of Shreveport, LA; mother-in-law Karen Hubbard, brother and sister-in-law Darnell and Bobbi Hubbard, all of Rapid City, SD; nephew and niece-in-law Jeremy Hubbard and Yorleny Alfaro Barrios of Lakewood, CO; nephew and niece-in-law Derrick and Tanya Hubbard of Fountain, CO. He is preceded in death by his mother and father. A Celebration of Scott's Life is set for Wednesday, November 29, 2017, 6:00 p.m. at Horan & McConaty, 5303 E. County Line Road, Centennial, CO. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to either the American Cancer Association, or Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
