Scott Randy Brewer

June 8, 1958 — March 16, 2014

Scott Randy Brewer died peacefully Sunday, March 16, 2014 at his home in Thornton, Colorado to the Moody Blues, ""Nights in White Satin."" A Celebration of Scott's Life will be held Friday, March 21, 2014 at 6:00 PM, at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 9998 Grant Street, Thornton, Colorado with a reception immediately following the service. Please share memories of Scott and condolences with his family by signing the guestbook below. Scott was diagnosed with lung cancer in March, 2013 and didn't let his prognosis stop him from enjoying life and spending time with loved ones. He is survived by his loving wife of 16 years Renee Brewer, his children: Claire Brewer, Adam Brewer, Paige Brewer, Michelle Setina and Jamie Setina, his 12 grandchildren: Emilie, Kaylie, Summer, Jordan, Madison, Blake, Gabriel, Ava, Xziyler, Keegan, Selah and Charis, his siblings: (and their children) Kandy Earsom, Robert (Bob) Brewer, and Leonard (Len) Brewer. Scott Brewer was born on June 8, 1958 to Robert Brewer and Eilane Brewer. He was the third of four children. He was born and raised in Denver, Colorado, attended Denver Public Schools and graduated from George Washington High School in 1976, attended Arapahoe Community College in the early 80's to refine his automotive mechanical skills. He worked for the City of Denver first at the car Impound lot, then at the Denver Police Garage where he thrived. He was one of the first mechanics in Colorado certified to work on propane and natural gas cars and was specifically in charge of the cars in district 2. After many back, shoulder and neck surgeries, he left the City and worked other jobs including helping his brother Len at his auto shop, as a painting crewmember for the Federal government, helping his mother build a house, then eventually as a bowling mechanic at Lucky Strike Lanes in Denver. He was promoted to Bowling Manager and worked as hard as possible for as long as he could (which was just a few weeks before his passing) and was a dedicated and loyal employee in all of his roles. At work, he was always the one who would arrive early, stay late and come in on his days off. He was dedicated to understanding how things worked and working with his hands, often writing down diagrams to better understand processes. Even in his last days he was curious about how his remote control bed worked and wanted to take it apart. The most important thing in the world to Scott was having fun and creating laughter. Always a kid at heart, Scott was a husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend that initiated games and activities such as flying kites, racing remote control cars, letting off Estes rockets, firework wars, swimming at the pool, impromptu water fights, go-kart rides, ice skating, rocking out to loud music, roller skating, putt-putt golf, board games and watching movies. He enjoyed the beautiful Colorado Rocky Mountains and fishing was his most relaxing hobby. He loved to go camping with his family and went on a few hunting excursions as well. He loved to be on a boat in the middle of a lake, fishing pole in one hand, cigarette in another, good tunes playing, enjoying the sunshine. He was a hard-working man that was willing to help others at any time. Whether it was family, a friend or strangers, he was always glad to make a difference when he could. He was the protector of his family and would always answer when called. He didn't gossip or ever put others down to feel better about himself. He was truly selfless and compassionate and was rarely angry or upset. ""Don't worry, Be Happy! Hakuna Matata!"" describe his outlook, despite life's challenges. He will be genuinely missed by all who knew him and will live on forever in our hearts!
