Sebastian Turco

Emblem

Sebastian Turco was born in Omaha, NE, Nov. 23, 1931, the middle child of Salvatore and Fina Turco.  He had an older sister, Louise Riedmiller, and a younger brother, Alfred Turco.

Seb served in the Navy during the Korean War as an electrician’s mate on the USS Manchester, and he received many honors for his service.

After his discharge, he got a degree in education and married Mary Ann Trent. He went on to a career in teaching and they had two daughters, Margaret and Beth.

Seb always did his best to provide for his family, including taking summer jobs when school was not in session.  As an educator, he spent a lot of time finding new ways to reach his students, and their success meant a lot to him.

After retirement from Denver Public Schools, he had both paid and volunteer positions.  These included teaching GED classes, aiding disabled children during their school days, working with a gifted children’s program, and working at Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic.

He is survived by his daughters Margaret Turco and Beth Parrino (Joe), grandchildren Sarah Parrino Escobar (Daniel Escobar) and Ben Parrino (Tabby), sister Louise Riedmiller, nieces Teri Snodgrass, Lisa Riedmiller, and nephews Al Turco, Mike Turco, and Mark Riedmiller.
