SFC Lenial B. Meadows

Services for Lenial B. Meadows, age 96, will be on Wednesday, May 31st, 2017 at 1:00 PM at the Horan & McConaty Family Chapel located at 5303 East County Line Road, Centennial, Colorado 80122. A visitation will be held the night before on Tuesday, May 30th, 2017 from 4-7 PM at the Horan & McConaty Family Chapel. He peacefully passed away on Monday, May 22nd, 2017 at nine thirty in the morning at Cherrelyn Health Care Center in Littleton. A native of Powell County, Kentucky close to Stanton, Kentucky, Lenial was born on October 22nd, 1921. His father and mother were Leauder Meadows and Attie F. Rogers. Len's brother and sisters were John Willard Meadows, Rollen Audre Meadows, Lorene Meadows, and Ollie Ann Meadows, all deceased. He lived in Kentucky until joining the C.C.C.'s, then the U.S. Army in February of 1942. Sargent first class Meadows served his country well for almost twenty two years, was in WWII in Panama, New Guinea, and then under General MacArthur in the Philippine's invasion. After the War, he was stationed at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center in Aurora, Colorado where he met his wife, Maxine O. Meadows. They were married fifty four years when she passed away in December of 2000. There was always a smile and a cheery ""Hello"" to those he came in contact with on the job or anywhere else. During the ""Cold War Days"", Len and his family were stationed number of times in Texas and Virginia. Then, he was stationed by himself in France and Germany. His wife and son were able to move with him back to Europe and lived in Verona, Italy for four years traveling extensively all over. Upon returning and retirement in Aurora, Colorado, he became a custodian of Aurora's 1st Assembly of God Church were he was a member for many years. He was a faithful husband and father who will be sadly missed. He is survived by his son, Gene Meadows of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, step daughter Buelah Dawn Ennis of Dallas, Texas. Grandchildren Rick and Gina Meadows of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Eddie and Larry Ennis of San Antonio, Texas, and Tami George of Dallas, Texas; and twelve great grandchildren. The Reverend Howard Cummings will officiate services on Wednesday followed by a Military Honors Ceremony with twenty one gun salute. Gina Meadows will also tell stories about her grandfather.
