Sharie Dalene Butler, age 81, died peacefully in her home in Golden, Colorado on February 7, 2023. She was born on May 21, 1941, in Council Bluffs, Iowa and lived in Malvern, Iowa until she was 12. Then, her family moved to Denver, Colorado where she attended Berkeley Elementary, Skinner Junior High and North High Schools.
After graduation in 1959, Sharie married Dudley J. Butler and worked as a secretary until their son, Wayne, was born in 1963 followed by their daughter, Dalene, in 1965. In 1974, the family moved to Coal Creek Canyon, near Denver, where Sharie started working at Coal Creek Elementary as the Cafeteria Manager. She worked there until 1997. She was always remembered for her delicious freshly made lunches and especially her cinnamon rolls! She and Dudley moved from the mountains to Golden in 2010. She was active in craft groups, her retiree group and always enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Sharie and Dudley joined the Arvada United Methodist Church after moving to town.
Sharie was meticulous at cross-stitch, crafting beautiful greeting cards, making travel photo books and she also enjoyed reading. She loved the theater and traveling. She and Dudley were able to travel much of the country in their 5th-wheel trailer after retirement. Other travels included a Mediterranean cruise for their 50th Anniversary, and Sharie visited the British Isles with her sister in 2013.
Sharie will be missed for her sweet smile and easy laugh and for always taking care of those she loved. Her family and friends will treasure the many wonderful memories she leaves behind.
Sharie is survived by her children: Wayne Butler and Dalene Parks (Tham), her grandchildren: Jack Mueller, Charlie Parks (Samantha), Samuel Parks and Tyler Parks. Sharie is also survived by her sister, Diane Davis, nephew Matt Davis (Lisa) and niece Emily Greene (Mike), plus great nieces Abigail Greene and Laurel Davis and great nephews Wilson Davis and Harrison Greene. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dudley J. Butler and her parents, Norma and Dale Simpson.
A memorial service followed by light refreshments will be held on Friday, March 3, 2023, at Arvada United Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. Sharie made donations to the many causes supported by Kyle Clark on Channel 9.
