Sharon Bakke entered eternal life on February 5, 2024. She was born in Denver on November 2, 1955, to Eugene Over and Doris Frederick. She attended public schools in Lakewood and graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in computer science.
She began her career with Burroughs Corporation in Santa Barbara, California, providing large systems within the banking sector. After relocating to San Diego for several years, Sharon returned home to Denver and continued her career with Raymond James, Arrow Partners, and Oracle Corporation, successfully serving multinational clients, often in the telecommunications industry. Along the way, Sharon became an avid golfer.
Sharon’s daughter, Erika Bakke, was born in 1992. Sharon raised Erika in her own mold – a strong, loving, independent woman ready to take on the world – and watched with delight as her daughter forged her own path through school, into the workplace and across the Atlantic Ocean. Sharon was Erika’s strongest ally and loudest cheerleader, always ready to laugh with and dream with the pride of her heart.
Throughout all the changes, the center of her life was always her family, a word she found elastic enough to include neighbors and friends – whether they were hers, Erika’s, or her brothers’. She was never happier than when she had a house full of family she could love and feed.
She is survived by her daughter, Erika, and her brothers and sisters-in-law, Mike and Kathy Over of Slidell, Louisiana, and Eugene Over, Jr., and Kelly Flynn of Brussels, Belgium. She is also survived by two nieces, Jennifer Sjolander and Kristen Post (and her husband, Brett Post); two nephews, Gene Over (and his wife Tiffany) and Rhys Over; a grand-niece, Cora Post; and a grand-nephew, Ethan Over.
Instead of flowers or other expressions of sympathy, Sharon’s family invites you to remember Sharon with a gift to the Denver Dumb Friends League (https://www.ddfl.org/donation-center/).
