Sharon Marie (Coggan) Ellis, of Aurora, CO died Tuesday May 26, 2020 at her home. She was 86 years old.
Sharon was born on January 3, 1934 in Springfield, Illinois. She went to St. Agnes Grade School and graduated from Sacred Heart Academy. After graduation, she worked for the secretary of state of Illinois before marrying Howard Ronald ""Ron"" Ellis on September 11, 1954.
Sharon was always up for an adventure, and she and Ron packed up the three kids and moved west to Colorado in 1961 where they raised their family in Aurora, a suburb of Denver. The family grew by two more, and with four boys and one girl, Sharon had her hands full raising the kids. She volunteered at St. Pius X Catholic Church and also at the Aurora Auxiliary for Health Related Services, and at her kids' schools for many years. Sharon worked for the Aurora Public Schools for 20 years before retiring in 1993.
Sharon loved to read and gave the gift of reading to her children. She also loved to play cards, sing, crochet and loved going to musicals. She became a sports fan and was always at her kids' soccer, basketball, baseball and softball games. Sharon loved the Denver Broncos, Notre Dame and the Colorado Buffaloes and she attended many football games over the years. Skiing was not her sport, but she'd always have hot chocolate and tomato soup ready when the troop would come home from a day on the slopes. Mostly, she loved her family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them. She will be deeply missed.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Ron; sons, Larry (wife Debbie) Ellis of Centennial, CO; Craig Ellis of Aurora, CO; Mark (wife Lisa) Ellis of Centennial, CO; David Ellis of Lone Tree, CO; and daughter, Cynthia Ellis of Centennial, CO; four granddaughters; four great grandchildren; brother, Robert (wife Rita) Coggan of Decatur, IL; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her sister, Patricia A. Stapleton and her parents, Galen W. and Irene M. (Kervin) Coggan, all of Springfield, IL.
