Sharon "Suz" or "Sherry" Howell

Sharon "Suz" or "Sherry" Howell passed away on March 9, 2025 just shy of her 78th birthday.

Sharon was born to Sy and Alvina Hause and lived nearly her whole life in southern Jefferson County. Growing up as a "farm kid" she and her brother, Chuck, rode the bus through the south end of the county to attend school, including Bear Creek High School. She then attended and graduated from Western State College in Gunnison, where she met Dennis, in 1969.

Married for nearly 54 years, they raised 2 kids, Craig and Cindy, living and gardening in the same house they bought after getting married. Family vacations included camping and exploring Colorado, visiting family, and at kids sporting events. Sharon worked various jobs in banking, insurance and in support roles in Jeffco schools.

Retirement brought lots of well-earned travel for her and Dennis, including cruises in the Caribbean, time in the Mediterranean, Germany, Mexico, and Costa Rica, as well as destinations in the US. She also loved time with her grandkids: Emily, Alex, and Henry, including reading books, playing games and making their favorite foods, like her mac and cheese, corn bread, and plenty of ice cream.

Sharon was a steady and loving presence at holiday gatherings through the years. Her quiet nature was punctuated by her smile and she was usually willing to be part of good-natured silliness, which may have caught you by surprise. Her steady presence will be greatly missed.

She leaves behind her husband, Dennis; daughter, Cindy (Andy); son, Craig; grandchildren: Emily (Matt), Alex, and Henry; great grandson James; brothers: Chuck and Rich (Cyndi); brother-in-law, Steve (Kathy); 3 nieces and 4 nephews, extended family and dear friends.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Sy and Alvina, and sister-in-law, Cindy.

A celebration of Sharon’s life will be held on Friday, March 28, 2025 at 2pm at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood, with a reception following nearby.
