Shawn Alexander Yoho

December 7, 1991 — January 12, 2012

Shawn Alexander Yoho, 20, passed away January 12, 2012 in Utah, following injuries he sustained in a car accident. He was born December 7, 1991 in Gainesville, Florida to David and Tamara Trahan Yoho. Shawn graduated from Eaglecrest High School in 2010. He was a sophomore at University of Northern Colorado Greeley studying Communications. He was working with the worship team at Journey Church in Greeley, CO. Shawn had many interests – hockey, soccer, football, baseball, talking, laughing, eating – and of course the one everyone remembers: music. Growing up he played many different sports and tried many different things, but music was the one thing that stayed consistant throughout his childhood. From an extremely young age he was strumming a guitar and singing songs. When he began writing his own songs at the age of 7, family and friends were amazed. He went through stages with his songwriting; his very first song was about a girlfriend that he didn't have! After that he moved into worship songs and never left. As he progressed through high school he began to stand up for his belief in Jesus more and more. By his freshman year in college it became very clear to him that if he was going to play music, he would play it for Jesus. Shawn influenced many people over his years with his charming smile and contagious laugh, however, the thing people saw when they looked at him was the Holy Spirit filling him and overflowing into everyone around him. Shawn motivated his family to follow Jesus more closely and pursue their relationships by his everyday walk with God. Looking back on all of the incredible music he made, those songs about Jesus are the ones remembered – exactly like he wanted – and the songs that speak words of encouragement to us. Shawn is survived by his parents, Dave and Tammy of Aurora, CO; siblings, Michael, Justin, Samantha, Jacob, Dylan and Hunter of Aurora; grandparents, Paul Trahan of Gainesville, Florida, Stan & Jean Yoho of Canon City, CO; 14 immediate aunts & uncles; 19 first cousins; and numerous other relatives. A Public viewing will be held at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 11150 East Dartmouth Avenue (at South Parker Road), Aurora, CO on Friday, January 20, 2012 from 6:00-8:00pm. A Public Memorial Service will be held at Calvary Chapel Aurora, 18900 E. Hampden Ave., Aurora, CO on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. A memory book will be created for the family to celebrate Shawn's legacy.
