Shelly Marie Rivas

Former Ogallala, Nebraska resident Rachelle ""Shelly"" Marie Rivas, 42, from Thornton, Colorado, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 21, 2013, at Vista View Care Center in Thornton. A Funeral Service in Colorado will be held on Thursday, January 24 at 11:00AM at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 9998 Grant St., Thornton, Colorado. A Recitation of the Rosary will be on Saturday, January 26, 2013, at 10:00AM, followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:30 at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Ogallala. Inurnment at Ogallala Cemetery. Shelly was born March 10, 1970, in Ogallala, Nebraska, the daughter of Rose Rivas of Denver, Colorado, and Henry Rivas of Grand Island, Nebraska. She attended St. Luke's Catholic School and graduated from Ogallala High School in 1988. After graduation she attended Mid Plains Community College and worked at Golden Ours Convalescent Home in Grant, Nebraska, until the time of her accident on March 26, 1990. Survivors include her loving mother Rose Rivas of Denver, Colorado; her father Henry G. Rivas of Grand Island, Nebraska; a brother, Paul Granados, of Bellevue, Nebraska; a sister, Maddy Palmer, of Ogallala, Nebraska; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Gilbert and Rosie Reyna, uncles Richard and Mark Reyna, grandparents Joe and Maria Rivas, aunt and uncle Stella and Joe Rivas. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in her memory.
