Shirley Dianne Crofford

June 25, 1947 — June 10, 2015

Shirley Dianne Crofford, 67, of Denver, passed away June 10, 2015, following a recent diagnosis with cancer. She was born June 25, 1947 in Ogden, Utah. Shirley was adventurous and enjoyed traveling, concerts and the theater. She loved going to the mountains to take in the beauty of the scenery. Some of her most memorable trips which she loved to talk about, were to Hawaii, Moab, Vail and Texas. In addition to travel and new adventures, family was very important to Shirley. Each year the family would have a reunion in Vail. She also never forgot a birthday or special occasion and was determined to make every holiday joyous. Being a jokester and the life of the party allowed her to turn any situation into one of laughter. Her presence lit up the room and she was beautiful and elegant in every way. Shirley was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was serving as the First Counselor of the Relief Society in her Branch. She was kind, giving, and always thought of others first. She was a proud grandma and loved each of her grand babies in a very unique way. She will always be remembered for this, as well as her love of animals and giving of her time to visit the elderly at the nursing home. Most importantly, Shirley never forgot to say, ""I Love You."" The greatest thing we can learn from her life and example is to be giving and to always think of others. Shirley is survived by her loving Husband of 38 years, Jon Freeman Crofford; their Children, Regina Villegas, Paige Guinn, Jon Crofford (wife, Amy) and Shawn Crofford (wife, Togos); Grandchildren, Steve Villegas, Tony Villegas, Melanie Villegas, Collin Guinn, Kelly Guinn; Hunter Crofford, Parker Crofford, Ava Crofford, Max Crofford and Serena Belle Crofford; Great-grandchildren, Jordan Villegas and Macen Villegas. She is also survived by her Mother, Marguerite Rankin; siblings, Jim Rankin (wife, Mary), Kathy Klutsch (husband, John), Gaylene Johnson (husband, Ralph), Cheryl Adamson (husband, Kent); and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her Father, Gordon Truman Rankin. A Funeral service for Shirley will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 6465 W. Jewell Ave., Lakewood, CO 80232. A viewing will be held at the Church from 10:00-10:45am. Burial will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 S. Sheridan Blvd., Denver, CO. on Tuesday, at 12:30pm, Shelter ""B"".
