Shirley Mary Eakins Ellerby, a life-long resident of Denver, died on Sunday at Sky Ridge Hospital. A rosary will be said at 7:00pm on Wednesday, 3/21 at Horan McConaty at 1091 S. Colo. Blvd. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, 3/22 at Christ the King Catholic Church at 830 Elm St. Entombment will follow at Fairmount Mausoleum where Shirley will be united with her beloved husband. Shirley was born Jan. 3, 1924 in Denver. She attended Blessed Sacrament Elementary School in Park Hill. She graduated from Cathedral High School in 1941. She attended the University of Denver and was a member of Sigma Kappa sorority. During WWII, she worked for Denver Tramway Co. In 1948, she married the love of her life, Alfred M. âBudâ Ellerby who preceded her in death. She is survived by two daughters, Laura Ellerby and Dorothea Ellerby, Denver; a son, Mack (Patty) Ellerby, Denver; and a grandson, Dylan Ellerby, Denver; a sister, Louann Nelson, Denver; and numerous nieces and nephews. Shirley was a superb homemaker, and she supported many charities. She loved her family, her Church, animals and travel. Donations can be made to Carmelite Monastery, 6138 So.
