Shirley LaVerne Everett, longtime resident of Cheyenne (Wyoming), went to the Lord on September 30, 2015 in Denver surrounded by her family. Shirley was born on October 9, 1929 in Powell, Wyoming. She is survived by her daughter, son, three granddaughters, two grandsons, and two great-granddaughters. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of thirty-six years, two daughters, one son, her parents, and brother. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to her family. Shirley balanced her family life with a lengthy career with the United States Government highlighted by her recognition by then Attorney General John Ashcroft for her dedicated service. Her family was particularly proud of her accomplishments as a former member of the Wyoming Chapter of The Ninety-Nines, the International Organization of Women Pilots, as she committed herself to obtaining a private pilot's license. Shirley was an avid reader and taught her children how to command the English language. During the latter part of her life, she enjoyed travelling including excursions to Australia, England, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, Scotland, Switzerland, and to Germany with her son to spend a holiday with three of her grandchildren. Shirley gave everything she had to enrich the lives of her family including sharing with them her love of nature, the performing arts, zoos, museums, and adventure. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 5, 2015 from 4-7 p.m. and a funeral service at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, October 6th at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 11150 E. Dartmouth Avenue, Aurora, CO 80014. Burial will take place at 11 a.m. on October 8th at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens in Cheyenne, WY.
