Shirley Ann Miller, of Aurora, Colorado, passed away April 6, 2015, after suffering from Alzheimer's disease. A Memorial Service will be held on April 26, 2015 at 2 PM at Horan & McConaty at 11150 East Dartmouth Avenue, Aurora, Colorado 80014. Shirley was born in Freeborn, Minnesota to Fern and Manferd Seath on August 6, 1930. She grew up in Albert Lea, Minnesota with her parents, older brother, Wayne, and older sister, Iola. (Ole) After high school, she attended the University of Minnesota for two years. She interrupted her education to marry and raise two daughters, Brenda and Lori. After a divorce in 1956, Shirley worked at several banks in the Minneapolis area. In 1959, she moved to Emporia, KS to attend Kansas State Teachers College. She graduated in 1960 with a degree in Elementary Education. Shirley taught 3rd grade in Lawrence, Wichita and Olathe KS and in Kansas City, MO. She moved to Colorado and obtained Masters degree in Library Science from Denver University and later a Masters Degree in Media from the University of Colorado. She was a media specialist with the Aurora Public School system until her retirement. While working at Pickens Technical School, she met Paul Miller and they married in 1976. They were to celebrate 39 years this June. Shirley loved to travel with Paul, play cards, knit, quilt and read. She cheered for the Broncos and the Colorado Buffaloes with enthusiasm. Earlier in her adult life, Shirley sang in her church choir and Sweet Adelines. She is survived by her beloved husband, Paul E. Miller, Aurora; daughter, Brenda, Overland Park, KS; step-daughter and husband, Dee and Dale Pierce, Aurora; step-son, Brad, New Orleans, LA; sister-in-law, Almyra, Owatonna MN; brother-in-law, Dixon Smith, Golden CO. Grandchildren: Brian Pope (wife, Shannon), Omaha, NE; Kevin Pope, Dillon, CO; Megan Lueke (husband, John), Overland Park, KS; Dylan Miller (wife, Kristin), Port Saint Lucie, FL; Nicole Miller, New Orleans; Isaac Miller, New Orleans; Seth Rickard, Fort Collins, CO; Kenna Rickard, Loveland, CO. Great-grandchildren, Christopher Miller, Cayden Miller, Easton Pope and Holden Pope. Nieces, Chris Butler and Kim Seath, nephews, Scott Smith, Bruce Smith, Bill Smith, and Jerry Seath. Preceded in death by her brother and sister, Wayne Seath and Ole Smith, daughter, Lori Rickard, grandson, Eric Pope (Brenda's son); grandson, Patrick Pierce (Dale's son).
