Mrs. Shirley Darlene Wagy Riebel, 82, of Highlands Ranch, Colorado passed away on Sunday morning November 23, 2008. The daughter of Harold M. Wagy and Glenna Quincy, she was born July 4, 1926 in Barry, Illinois. Darlene attended Barry Community School and graduated in 1945. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and married to Darrell Stanley Riebel in Hannibal, Missouri on November 24, 1955, who preceded her in death. While in High School, Darlene was a cheerleader and a member of the School Student Editorial Committee. She loved music, dancing and singing. As a young woman she ventured out to California and worked as a nanny in Pasadena. Later she returned back home and worked at Wentz-Sonis (a tool and dye company) as an office assistant and during World War II at a shoe factory. After getting married and having her children she was a ""stay-at-home"" mom for many years, until her children were in high school. At that time, she started working at Robinson's (a retail chain), where she retired. Family was very important to Darlene. Before she was ever a mother herself, she relished the role of doting aunt to her sister's three children, and after moving to California she would travel to the Midwest annually to visit with family. Besides her great love for family, Darlene had a great love for all animals and their concerns. She was a very kind and loving woman. Surviving are two children; Lori Kay (Klaus) Gerger, and Randall Lee Riebel, two grandsons, Sean Lee and Kyle Gregory Riebel; a sister, Delores King of South Jordan, Utah and a dear friend of 28 years, Howard William Headley; plus numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral services will be on Saturday, November 29, 2008 at 2:00 PM at Horan & McConaty, 5303 County Line Road, Centennial, Colorado. The burial will be a Park Lawn Cemetery, Barry, Illinois, on Thursday, December 4th, 2008.
