Sidney J. Barker, 81, passed away peacefully at home with family & friends at his side on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011. Sidney was born January 17, 1929 in Almond, North Carolina. He earned a BS in Geology from the University of North Carolina and served in the US Air Force. He worked as a geologist most of his adult life and retired from Exxon. Sidney was married to his beloved Annie Jean for nearly 60 years. In addition to his family, he loved the outdoors, NC Tarheels, BBQ & Ferraris. He was a devout Christian and a devoted husband and father. He is survived by his wife, Annie Jean; sons, Mike (Jocelyn) Bozeman, MT; Kent (Kim) Kent, WA; daughter, Debbie (Glenn) Wheaton, ILL, brother, Kenneth (Jan) Copperhill, TN.; 11 grandchildren; 1 great grandson and a host of other family and friends.
