Signe L. Bichov

February 9, 1922 — December 21, 2016

On December 21, 2016, Signe L. Bichov journeyed from the heart of her family to the arms of her Lord. She was born on February 9, 1922 to loving parents Sophia and Lars Evenson of Carlyle, Montana. She grew up on the family farm attending a one-room school, grades one through eight. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. She graduated from Carlyle High School along with seven others. She experienced life from horse-and-buggy days to space flight, from elegant penmanship to computer keyboarding. After Signe settled in Kellogg, Idaho, she became an active member of the Kellogg American Lutheran Church where she was known by her first name and made cherished friendships singing in the choir, serving and studying in Circle, making quilts, passing the peace, and faithfully worshiping. She, later, moved to Heritage Place in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, for a few years, living right down the hall from her sister Anna where they spent afternoons together. In 2010 Signe moved to Arvada, Colorado to live with her granddaughter Deborah and Deborah's husband James, who had prepared a special place for her. Signe was preceded in death by her husband George Bichov, her parents, her brother Clarence (Jessie) Evenson, her sister Anna (Everett) Retter, and niece Judith Craver and nephew Charles Evenson. She is survived by her daughters Ruth (Bill) Wozow, Arvada, Colorado and Kathy Bichov (James), Methow, Washington; granddaughters Deborah (James) Polson, Arvada, Colorado and Staci (Willis) Wetzler, Berthoud, Colorado; great-granddaughter Stephanie (Kenneth) Ritz, Golden, Colorado and great-grandson James Jordan Polson, Arvada, Colorado; and two little smile makers, great-great granddaughters Eliana and Makenna Ritz, and nieces and nephews. The following people cannot be thanked enough for their care of Signe: Deborah and James Polson, who opened their home and lives for her; Stephanie Ritz and Jordan Polson, who were a constant joy for her; niece Joyce Sonnabend and her husband Bill , who spent countless hours with her; and nephew Gene Retter, who was there for her when he was needed. Also to be thanked are Physician Housecalls, Honor Hospice, Home Instead Senior Care, and Horan & McConty who could not have been more caring professionals. In lieu of flowers any memorials may be sent to the Kellogg American Lutheran Church, 15 East Riverside Avenue, Kellogg, Idaho 83837, which was her second home while she lived in Kellogg. A Memorial Service honoring Signe will be held on Sunday, January 8, 2017 at 2:00 PM at King of Glory Lutheran Church, 10001 West 58th Avenue, Arvada, Colorado.
