After retiring from banking in 1977, Owens was associated with Larson Distr. Co. in Denver for 10 years as VP of Finance. He recently retired from Owens Landscape Design & Mgmt., Inc., a company he established with his son, Michael B. Owens. He was invested in Wichita, Kansas, in 1964 as a Knight of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem; he served as the Councillor for the State of Colorado for several years. His rank is Knight Grand Cross of The Holy Sepulchre. He was awarded the Pilgrim Shell on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land in 1993 with Knights and Ladies of The Holy Sepulchre. He was born a raised in St. Paul, KS, son of the late A.L. & Genevieve Owens. He was active in banking in St. Paul, Parsons and Wichita, KS. He served on the Board of Trustees of the former St. Thomas Theological Seminary; was financial counsel for several religious orders in Kansas and Colorado. He was active in Denver parishes serving as a Eucharistic Minister at Shrine of St. Anne's, Arvada; Holy Ghost Parish and Basilica of The Immaculate Conception, in Denver; he also served on the parish councils. He was affiliated with several religious, civic, and social groups in Kansas, Colorado and Florida. A veteran of WWII, he serviced in the Army Air Force. He was a charter member of the American Legion in St. Paul, KS. He served as Postmaster in St. Paul, KS for 2 years. He is survived by his wife, Delores; daughter, Janice A. Murrow (Ralph); son, Michael B. Owens (Rosie); daughter, Marcia L. Kloepper; son, John C. Owens (Carmen); daughter, Jennifer M. Brunke (Devin), and 16 grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, Kenneth E. Owens, Wichita, KS. Preceding him in death, a sister, Alberta Owens O'Bryan, and a brother, J.R. Owens. Visitation, will be held on Sunday, 10:00 am '"" 5:00 pm with a Rosary at 3:00 pm, both at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 1091 S. Colorado Blvd. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, 10:00 am at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 1900 California St. Interment in Ft. Logan National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Masses are requested.
