Sonya E. Cahill

Sonya, 81, of Broomfield, Colorado formerly of Loveland, Colorado passed January 26, 2014. She was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa, graduated from Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa, and was an elementary school teacher. In 1956, she married the love of her life, John (Jack) Cahill. Together, with their children, they moved to Colorado, and later California. Jack died in 1969 and Sonya returned to Colorado with her children. After raising her family, she moved to Tucson, Arizona to enjoy the warmth, eventually returning to Colorado again in 2002. Preceded in death by her husband, John Gerard Cahill, in 1969; and partner, Joe Testa, in 1998. Survived by her children, Cathy Hunsinger, Patty Moser, Jacky Kowalsky, and John Cahill; 8 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; brothers, John, Pete, and Rob Mackintosh. Sonya loved fiercely, laughed often, and met life's challenges with wit and wisdom; she is dearly missed. Memorial Service will be Friday, February 21, 2014, 4:00 PM, Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 9998 Grant Street, Thornton, Colorado.
